The Geitenboederij (Goat Farm) Ridammerhoeve is located within the beautiful Amsterdamse Bos (forest). There are so many activities for visitors to enjoy in a beautiful natural farm setting.

The dairy goat farm was opened in 1988. The farm started with about a hundred goats. There are currently approximately the same amount of goats. At the Geitenboederij visitors are educated about that the various activities involved in running a farm. Visitors can walk through the barns and for a small fee feed the goats, even the kids using a baby bottle. The goats run around the area even joining the children in the playground. We were lucky enough to visit while they milked the goats. It was interesting to watch.

The outdoor wooden playground is sometimes shared with goats and chickens. We even watched chickens hatch in one of the many baskets hanging on the wall inside the barn near the goats. The horses, pigs and other animals can be petted in their cage.

In the cellar of the barn there is an exhibit showing the process of making Dutch cheese. Cheese and ice cream is made on site from the goat’s milk and sold in the store upstairs. A trip to the Geitenboederij is both fun and educational.
