Highview Community Playground:
Nanuet, NY

After a friend recommended the playground, I tried finding it on my navigation.  For some reason, it did not come up. Although it is a public playground, it is owned by the school district and is technically part of the school across the street. The playground is on the corner of Church and Highview Street, across from the Highview Elemntary School.

The playground has an interesting history. It was originally built of wood in the 1990’s, and after about twenty years, it rotted and needed to be replaced. A committee of volunteers were formed and the Castle themed playground was replaced with a plastic playground replicating the original design.

The Castle themed playground has lots of exciting activities as well as an area designated for children ages 2-5. There is a raised area of benches where adults can sit and supervise the children. The playground is surrounded by a paved path with a fence circling the entire area. Children can rollerblade on the paved path. There are four picnic tables outside the playground but within the gated area. The playground is in a very open and sunny spot. I wouldn’t recommend it for very hot days.
