Coachella Valley-Thousand Palm Oasis Preserve:
Palm Springs, CA

The start of the beautiful path to the visitor center at the Thousand Palm Oasis Preserve was the start of our hike. The archway palm, a Palm tree bent over completely in the shape of an arch is a big attraction near the Visitor’s Center. There are also picnic tables and helpful information can be received from the Visitor’s Center.

The Coachella Valley, at the foot of the Indio Hills, is home to over 20,000 acres of dessert wilderness, wildlife and over 25 miles of trails. We chose to take the McCallum Pond Trail, an easy hike which starts out in the open desert and leads to a loop path around the magnificent pond. There are lots of majestic palm trees in the vicinity of the pond.

The McCallum Pond Hike is a good hike to start with. It was the first hike we took in Palm Springs. A great Warm up. It is not very taxing but beautiful nonetheless.
