Ein Gedi Nature Reserve:
Route 90, Judean Desert

by | Sep 14, 2017 | 0 comments

Ein Gedi Nature is located practically across the Dead Sea. There are many different hikes crisscrossing the14,350 dunams of land, with beautiful waterfalls that are popular swimming spots in the summer. There are four natural springs found in Ein Gedi. The Ein Gedi water is a popular brand of spring water sold all over Israel.

I visited Ein Gedi twice and each time I went on a different hike. The one I enjoyed the most was the hike to the upper section of Wadi David. This hike included the tall David Waterfall, Shulamit’s Spring, the intriguing Dodim’s Cave that you need to descend with a ladder, and the Ein Gedi Spring. There were magnificent views along the way of the surrounding mountains, the Dead Sea, Ein Gedi oasis, and the desert plateau.

It is very common to spot Ibex on the mountains. In addition to the Ibex we spotted some cute Rock Hyrex. There are many other animals and vegetation,   including some rare plants, that are visible while visiting.
