Right down the road from Whiteface Mountain is the beautiful High Falls Gorge, with waterfalls cascading down from the west branch of the Ausable River. There are bridges, wooden walkways, and glass platforms that extend over the water, as well as near the waterfalls, to offer the best views. The waterfalls are powerful and large. There are viewing areas where you can see the waterfall from up close, while further down the path you can see the waterfall in its entirety. The accessible walkways to see the waterfalls is about 45 minutes round trip. There is also an additional one mile nature trail that can be hiked on site. There is a beautiful picnic area overlooking the river that is a great place for lunch or snack.

The drive on the street alongside the river to High Falls is magnificent and there are many points along the way where you can stop. Since High Falls is located adjacent to Whiteface Mountain it is a great combination of activities to fill a day.
