06 Dec Mine Dock Park:
Highland Falls, NY
Mine Dock Park is the place to go if you are either a train- or nature-enthusiast. There is definitely beautiful nature and scenery with views of the Hudson River, Bear Mountain Bridge and the surrounding mountains. The train spotting isn’t as definite but must be fascinating when it passes. The train tracks are right there between the parking lot and the grassy picnic are by the Hudson River. There is a train tunnel on one side of the park and a large rock cut for the train to pass on the other side of the park. We weren’t lucky enough to spot a train during our visit. We would definitely want to return another time to get to see the train pass.
We visited during the Fall and loved the view of the fall foliage across the river. There were pretty wild flowers growing on the bank of the river and picnic tables scattered around. There is a monument with a tall American flag by the shore. The huge green wooden chair that says Mine Dock Park is a tremendous attraction and site for visitors to pictures at.
