There is a variety of things to do at Park Timna. The horseshoe-shaped valley covers 15,000 acres and is surrounded by steep cliffs. In the center is Mount Timna, about 1500 ft above sea level. Timna is the site of the world’s first copper mine.
The rocks and sand at Park Timna are unique including Solomon’s Pillars, the Mushroom, the impressive Arches, and the ancient rock-drawings depicting hunters of ostriches and ibexes, Egyptian battle chariots and other images. Walking and climbing through the rocks is fantastic. The sand is better than at the beach, soft and pure.
Timna is also famous for the colored sand found there. Visitors can pour different colors into a little bottle and take it home as a souvenir. There is a lake with paddle boats available for rent. There is also an option of renting bikes. The more adventurous can try the rappelling or zip line.
Park Timna, is located some about 17 miles north of Eilat and it is definitely worth a visit.
