Tiberias is a beautiful city and a great place to stay in the Galil. The city is centered on the glorious Sea of Galil. There are many hotels and restaurants right near the water. There are boat rentals there too. We rented a motorized row boat when we were there.  We drove around the Sea and found a deserted area in which to go swimming.

Tiberias has a wealth of Jewish Rabbis buried there, most notably Rabbi Moshe ben Maymon also known as the Rambam, Rabbi Meir Baal Hanes, and Rabbi Akiva. There are lots of attractions as well in the Galilee that are not far from Tiberias.
